MISSION FROM THE HEART FOUNDATION was founded in 2018 and months later received it’s 501c3 designation by the IRS. The nonprofit organization was founded by Shelby Brown who has been working in news as a TV journalist for more than 25 years. She has spent the last 19 years at WTVR-CBS 6 News as a Reporter and is an integral part of the station’s Problem Solvers team. That entails connecting news viewers with resources and helping them resolve pressing issues facing their families/neighborhoods.
MISSION FROM THE HEART FOUNDATION grew out of Shelby’s desire to help others. Many of the people behind the stories she covered through the years left lasting impressions on her.Shelby has seen first-hand the tremendous need as families struggle with basic necessities and years ago began a personal community outreach, helping wherever she could. She’s now blessed to have forged community partnerships with volunteers, businesses, child advocates, schools systems and area churches help those in the community who need it most. MISSION FROM THE HEART FOUNDATION is a volunteer-run organization that works year round to help students who are experiencing homelessness in Central Virginia and surrounding communities. The organization establishes Community Caring Closets inside of local schools, provides food, clothing and support during holidays for families and it connects families with housing resources. Through the help of generous community donors, the nonprofit has assisted more than five hundred students and families from underprivileged/underserved communities. Shelby’s mantra is simple. Lead with love and you will make a difference. |
